Profiling Natural Jersey on Our 1st Anniversary!

Now officially up to over 7,000 hits a month

I just created a Natural Jersey profile on Linked In and realized as I was writing up the website description that it's our 1 year anniversary. It's amazing to think that this website has come so far in such a short amount of time. Especially when you consider I work full time elsewhere for most of the week. Chalk another success story up to motivation and loving what you do!

Those of you who have followed this site know that I originally started another site, Territory Earth, to cover a variety of environmental and natural health issues of interest to me. As the years went on I started developing such a resource list of great natural businesses in New Jersey I couldn't help myself, I had to create a website to spread the word. It seems that I have a history of starting projects this time of year, so a year ago www.NaturalJersey.com was born.

The first thing I wanted to do was to help my NJ neighbors find local farms and farmer's markets in order to support local farmers.There was no way I could stop there. Once I added in my own circle of healers and natural supports it was time to expand the resources from food to health providers to natural spas. Then it was on to thrift shops to aid us in reducing our waste, and of course alternative energy providers to help reduce our carbon footprint. The site continues to grow as more resources are discovered and added.

Naturally (pun intended) I hoped that as time went on folks from New Jersey would start to find the site as they searched the web for resources for healthier alternatives to box store produce and traditional healthcare. I know a little about Search Engine Optimization from my work on other sites, so I signed up for a few free search engines and worked on designing the site to get the most visibility from the search engines. But I have to be honest, I didn't expect to have such a high volume of reader traffic in such a short amount of time. Not a week goes by that I don't get e-mails from natural health oriented businesses asking to be listed. It thrills me to know what I hoped would be a resource for consumers has turned out to be a great resource for businesses to get the word out too.

I want to thank all of of you for discovering my site and using it, for telling others about it and for listing your businesses. This has been a great experience, and I can't wait to see what this year brings!
